In which I kick jet lag in the ass
Just a note...
Astonishingly, I am FAR LESS jetlagged here in Asia than I usually am in NYC or even Chicago. Apparently the long flight actually works in one's favor, and just resets the body clock completely. I got a solid nine hours of sleep on the plane, arrived HK at 5 AM, took a brief nap around 5 PM, went to bed at 10:30, got up at 9 AM, and am feeling fine. Wheeee!! And I only took sleeping pills on the plane.

I always find that travelling west leaves me with no just lag, whereas the other way is more challenging. Plus with 9 (??!!!) hours of actual sleep, one SHOULD be fit as a fiddle! ;-) I guess you found some sleeping pills that actually do work!
BTW -- did you have a companion for your various perigrinations about the HK islands, or did you not yet hook up with any friend of a friend?
i mean jet lag..
I hooked up with a friend of a friend for dinner friday and day excursion Sat.
The sleeping pills are prescription.
Also, this version of travelling West is a little different, as one leaves at midnight and arrives at 5 AM... fourteen hours later.
Coming back east, I actually arrive before I left! I leave at 4 in the afternoon and get to LA at 2:30 PM.
I think the super long flights actually make dealing with the jet lag easier.
